Life, it will get the better of you

I haven't updated in quite a while. I also haven't finished my "Geek Chic" series, but I have drafts saved, so more will come in due time.

I've gotten caught up in school and life. It's exciting in some parts, not so in others.
I did turn 21 in October! It was my golden birthday, and lived up to that title.

I've been thinking about how your life opens up after college. You can go anywhere and do anything. My ideas so far were to go straight into work, or grad school. But I've grown tired of where I am. The new and shiny aspect of California. Everything is up to date, and the here-and-now. I want old and worn. A place with a history that goes back far longer than my own.

I think that's why I loved Germany so much. All those enchanting forests have been there for hundreds of years, and civilization has sprung up around it, but the aged feeling still lingers.

I've joked about with plans of moving to England and taking week or weekend trips to Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. Of visiting not only museums, but all the old libraries and bookshops as well as cafés.

And it doesn't help that my dearest roommate, Jojo, directed me to this website.
Now I want nothing more than to relocate my living quarters to a cramped room filled to the brim with books, and I also long to go to Paris for the sole purpose of visiting Shakespeare & Co. A little independent bookstore located on Paris' left bank that has quite an interesting history to it.

I wonder if such a life will ever be possible. Another option I've been thinking over is owning my own little bookshop someday. I could make art on the side, and build up my own land of literary whimsy. I doubt it will be able to happen, starting your own business sounds like it takes a lot of money. But it's my dream.

Until I once again feel compelled to write and/or complete what I have already started, I hope your lives are filled with enchantment and whimsy
